Choose Lake Whakamaru for your next school camp!
Our 79 bed camp is ideally suited for smaller schools or for those larger schools wanting to take a couple of classrooms only.

There is no sharing with other groups! You get the camp site to yourself, fully catered meals, and fantastic clean, warm bunkrooms to ensure a comfortable stay.

We are situated just 11 kilometres from State Highway One, and being in the central North Island we are a great base for visiting the area's unique geothermal features. Many school groups take a mid-week daytrip to Tongariro National Park, Rotorua, or Taupo.


But you don't have to leave the island to have a great camp!

We have a large array of awesome activities - kayaking,
abseiling, flying fox, confidence course, hikes,
archery, air rifles, and bushcraft,
just to name a few.
